Statutory Inquiry into the death of Jalal Uddin

On 9 November 2023 the Home Secretary announced the Government’s decision to establish an inquiry under the Inquiries Act 2005 to investigate the death of Jalal Uddin who was murdered in Rochdale on 18 February 2016.

His Honour Judge Teague KC having acted as the Coroner responsible for conducting the Jalal Uddin Inquest, was appointed as Chairman of the Inquiry.

A preliminary hearing took place on Thursday 7 December 2023. A copy of the transcript can be found here

The Inquiry will hear three days of public evidence at Liverpool Crown Court on 23, 24 and 25th September 2024. Transcripts of the proceedings will be made available and can be found here.
